What are hidden categories?

Hidden categories have the Show this category? option set to No. Hidden categories and their items will not appear on the main Deluxe News & Resources page. Hidden categories are most often used for PDF or Page items. If your entire website is using Deluxe News & Resources to make it self-updateable, your site's pages will be kept in a hidden category (often called CONTENT). Visitors will be able to access the pages using your site's navigation.

If your site has been customized to use hidden categories, we will provide you with documentation specific to your website.

How do I use the HTML editor?

Deluxe News & Resources contains a built-in HTML editor in the item Description fields. The editor can be used to add effects to the text appearing in the description field of Messages, Links and PDFs or content of a Page.

When the View Source box is checked below the HTML editor, the raw HTML code can be seen and edited. Unchecking the box will reactivate the HTML editor. The features in the HTML editor are similar to those found in Microsoft Word or other word processing programs. You may write text directory in the HTML or editor, or cut and page text from another document.

We recommend typing text in Notepad, WordPad or any program that allows you to save plain text (.txt) files. We do not recommend cutting and pasting from Microsoft Word, as Word's auto-formatting can sometimes cause errors in the HTML editor. When using the HTML editor, you may click the option you wish to use, then click in the box where you wish to type. As you begin to type, your desired effect will appear. You may also type your text in the box, highlight it, then select the option you wish to add.

Creating Links

1. Type the text that you want to appear as a link.

2. Highlight the text with your mouse.

3. Click the planet icon. A box will pop up.

4. Enter the URL of the website (including http://www.)

5. Click OK to close the box.

6. Your text will now appear as a link: Click Here to Visit theBubbler!

Images added to Page items can be larger, but we recommend that images are no larger than 400 x 400 pixels. Images attached to Page items will appear to the right of the Page's content. If multiple images are added to a page, they will all line up to the right of the content in a single column.
