We know something has to be done to curb spam before we lose one of the major components of our internet highway, e-mail.   The primary purpose of SpamIsBad.Com is to educate and assist with a petition to your U.S congressmen and state legislators.

SpamIsBad.Com will do this by bringing spam related news and articles covering three major areas:   1) general news about spammers and their techniques; 2) news about technologies that help filter out spam; and 3) news about legislation against spam.

Currently there are flurries of proposals taking place in the U.S. Congress, states are enacting legislation, ISP's are implementing spam technology, and technologists are looking at modifying the e-mail protocol.   Most troubling is that much spam is fraudulent and already falls under existing laws, yet little is being done.   Surely legislation will be passed at the U.S. congressional level, though there is much conflict about each proposal and questions about any legislative effectiveness.

Our position is that the spam problem has crescendoed with fraudulent, pornographic, and ridiculous unsolicited e-mail and we feel it is important to feed the growing Wisconsin Internet Community consciousness about spam until there is an appropriate resolution.   And because legislation is inevitable, the best way to become involved is to let your own U.S. Congressmen and State Legislators know how YOU feel.
