Favorite Book: A friend of a friend once interviewed a funny little man called Tom Robbins for a documentary. After getting a taste of this story teller's spectacular world view, unconventional wisdom and unrelenting wit, I happened upon a copy of Still Life With Woodpecker. For the first 200 pages or so, you can't in any concrete terms tell someone what it's about, because you don't really have any idea, yet it's unthinkable to put it down. When I finally finished my 30 hour long journey, for days my only thought was, "Wow I wanna go on that ride again."
Favorite Movie: High Fidelity currently has the #1 slot in my top 5.
Favorite Music/Band: Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, and Dot Dot Dot are at the top of the list, but high energy industrial techno fusion, Johnny Cash, or anything that moves you to do something other than hit the skip button stays in the play list.
Favorite Food: Pretty much anything with a healthy abundance of Curry, especially Thai food, though I'm down for an old fashioned cheese burger any time.
Favorite Word: The spectacle of wandering around Germany's Rhein-Neckar Triangle watching people exclaim "Tchuse" after practically every interaction - and being a part of that has put this at the top of my list ever since. It took me a week to stop saying it to people in the US.
Pets/Favorite Animal: The only animals I own come on the cover of an O'Reilly book. But some day if I'm home more than 2 hours a day I'd be up for any number of small furry mammals. If you have ferrets, invite me over.
Pet Peeve: People who take themselves too seriously, people with obnoxiously wordy associate bios. *looks away*
Hobbies: I like to incorporate photography into occasional forays into mountain biking, auto mechanics, home repair/remodeling, and pretty much anything else. I fancy myself a bit of an artist that way, and I suffer from the delusion that I could someday become proficient at one or more musical instruments.
Where I Was Born: Somewhere in Wisconsin. I honestly don't know the city.
Dream Vacation: I want to make a living for an extended period of time in a European country. Germany is looking good so far. Other than that, I’m a huge fan spontaneous weekend roads trips to states I've never been before.
Favorite Thing About Working at OnYourMark, LLC: The coolest thing I think is that it's small enough that everyone who works there has to be really good at what they do. It's also an extremely versatile organization that produces creative professional solutions for clients, while providing an environment to employees that reminds me of the early days of Netscape, Google, or even NeXT.
Favorite Things About My Job: I get to employ the right mix of the "Hacker Ethic" with traditional business processes to come up with some great things that really make a difference to the people I'm building a system for.
